April 25, 2014 - ETC Helps Behind the Scenes Care for Those in Need
NEW YORK, NY — At the USITT show in March, Steve Terry of ETC presented a check for $20,262 to Behind the Scenes, which reflected ongoing proceeds from sales of ETC’s iRFR and aRFR (Radio Focus Remote) application for iPhone, iPod Touch and Android. The donation brings ETC’s total Behind the Scenes contributions to date to just under $170,000.

April 9, 2014 - By Design Day 2014 – Join Our Champions in Raising Funds
Raising money for industry charities both sides of the Atlantic, By Design Day returns this year supported by a galaxy of well-known champions. Neil Austin; Gregg Barnes; Ken Billington; Paule Constable; Rick Fisher; Wendall Harrington; Howard Harrison; Don Holder; David Korins; Rob Milburn & Michael Bodeen; Ken Posner; Jennifer Tipton; and Hugh Vanstone have all put their name behind the one day in the year when our industry gets together to raise money for Light Relief in the UK and Behind The Scenes in North America.

April 1, 2014 - The LRLR Raise Funds for Behind the Scenes at USITT Raffle
The Long Reach Long Riders celebrated their 11th ride with a raffle and live auction to benefit Behind the Scenes during the USITT Conference in Fort Worth last week. Sales of raffle tickets, some key donations, and BTS and LRLR-branded swag raised just over $12,000 for the charity.

March 31, 2014 - Roscolux #359 Keeps Giving to Behind the Scenes
March 31, 2014, Fort Worth, TX – Rosco Laboratories and The ESTA Foundation are pleased to announce the sixth annual presentation by Rosco of the royalty check from the sales of Roscolux #359 Medium Violet to Behind the Scenes, the charity that assists entertainment technology professionals in need due to serious illness or injury.

March 14, 2014 - The Long Reach Long Riders Announce Ride Sponsors
The Long Reach Long Riders are happy to announce sponsors for their 11th annual charity motorcycle ride. Reprising their roles in the 2013 ride, Dana Taylor and the Short Reach Short Riders are sponsoring the LRLR T-shirts and Limelight Productions and Sapsis Rigging, Inc. are each sponsoring a chase car.

February 22, 2014 - Raffle Prizes, Live Auction, and the BTS Boutique Benefit Behind the Scenes at USITT
NEW YORK, NY — The Long Reach Long Riders and The ESTA Foundation will host their annual raffle to benefit Behind the Scenes at the USITT Conference in Ft. Worth, Texas, March 27-29. This year’s raffle will celebrate the 11th Anniversary of the Long Reach Long Riders annual charity motorcycle ride. The Riders have raised over $400,000 for charity in their ten years of touring some of the country’s most beautiful areas. This year’s raffle also celebrates the Short Reach Short Riders annual tricycle ride and the Vincent Lighting Systems workplace giving campaign.

December 4, 2013 - ETC’s iRFR Donations to Behind the Scenes Approach $150,000
NEW YORK, NY — At the LDI show last week, Dennis Varian of ETC presented a check for nearly $26,000 to Behind the Scenes, which reflected ongoing proceeds from sales of ETC’s iRFR and aRFR (Radio Focus Remote) application for iPhone, iPod Touch and Android. The donation brings ETC’s total Behind the Scenes contributions to date to just under $150,000.

September 22, 2013 - The Long Reach Long Riders Announce Dates for Next Charity Ride
The 11th annual Long Reach Long Riders charity ride, dubbed Carpe Diem! Carpe Twisty! 11 Great Years of Riding, is scheduled for July 12-19, 2014. The ride will begin in Baltimore, MD and meander through the West Virginia mountains, the horse country of Virginia and the rolling hills and cornfields of central Pennsylvania before returning to Baltimore.

September 19, 2013 - ILC Hosts Successful Outing
Intelligent Lighting Creations (ILC) is proud to have hosted a successful 2nd year of their Behind the Scenes Golf Outing, held at the Indian Lakes Resort on July 9th, 2013. With the help of over 60 golfers and additional reception attendees, ILC was able to provide the charity with $5,500. Dave Saltiel, a member of The ESTA Foundation’s board of directors, was able to accept the check on behalf of the charity.

June 19, 2013 - ILC Hosts Second Annual Golf Outing to Benefit the Behind the Scenes Program
On Tuesday, July 9, Intelligent Lighting Creations (ILC) will host their second annual Golf Outing at the Hilton Indian Lakes Resort in Bloomingdale, Illinois. Last year, ILC held their first golf outing supporting the Behind the Scenes program. Customers and clients of ILC, along with industry manufacturers, raised over $5,000 to support the initiative.

April 1, 2013 - The LRLR Celebrate 10 Years at USITT Conference with Behind the Scenes Raffle

March 30, 2013, New York, NY – The Long Reach Long Riders celebrated their 10th anniversary with a raffle and live auction to benefit Behind the Scenes during the USITT Conference in Milwaukee. Sales of raffle tickets and BTS and LRLR-branded swag raised just over $12,000 for the charity, a 25% increase over last year’s event. Master of ceremonies, Bill Sapsis, threw out a last minute challenge to the gathered crowd; if they came up with at least $500 in the last few minutes before the raffle he would double that with a $1,000 donation. The crowd happily rose to the challenge and made Bill pay off.

NEW YORK, NY — At the LDI tradeshow on Saturday, October 20th, ETC CEO Fred Foster presented a check for $23,423.67 to Behind the Scenes, which reflected ongoing proceeds from sales of their iRFR (Radio Focus Remote for iPhone and iPod Touch) application.

October 6, 2012 - Long Reach Long Riders Announce 10th Annual Ride
The 10th annual Long Reach Long Riders charity motorcycle ride, dubbed "Ten Great Years and Five Great Lakes" by the ride organizers, is scheduled to begin on June 28th in the Great Lakes region of the USA. Over the 8 day trip the riders will have an opportunity to visit, and stick their toes into, all five of the Great Lakes as well as ride some of the best bike roads in the area.

August 16, 2012 - The Long Reach Long Riders Complete their 9th annual Charity Motorcycle Ride

The Long Reach Long Riders (LRLR) are very happy to announce the successful completion of their 9th annual charity motorcycle ride. The ride, which benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and The ESTA Foundation's Behind the Scenes program, started in Seattle, Washington on August 4th and ended in Seattle on August 11th. To date in 2012 the LRLR have raised over $45,000.00

July 30, 2012 - Behind the Scenes Raffle at PLASA Focus Nashville
New York, NY — Behind the Scenes participated at the recent PLASA Focus Nashville event to raise both funds and awareness about the charity. The fundraising was made by possible by the generous donation from Mainstage Theatrical Supply, Inc. of an ETC Source Four Lustr+ LED Light Engine as a raffle prize. The raffle winner was Steve Gilbard from Coolux.

July 18, 2012 - ILC GIVES BACK TO BEHIND THE SCENES
On July 10th, 2012 at the Hilton Indian Lakes Resort, Intelligent Lighting Creations (ILC) hosted a charity golf event benefiting Behind the Scenes, an initiative of The ESTA Foundation. Over forty customers and clients of ILC came out to support the cause and mingle with other company representatives and industry professionals.

July 16, 2012 - Behind the Scenes reaches milestone
New York, NY — Behind the Scenes has reached an important milestone in the history of this very young charity – it has now issued over a quarter of a million dollars in grants to entertainment technology professionals who are seriously ill or injured. These grants have gone to a wide array of industry members including stagehands, designers, programmers, cameramen, gaffers and grips, costumers, scenic artists, production managers, and technical directors, as well as individuals working in a variety of positions for companies who supply products and services to the industry. Grants have also assisted widows and children with expenses after the passing of an industry member.

The new Ghostlight Society is now accepting members to help support a comprehensive legacy giving program. 

February 3, 2012 - The Long Reach Long Riders Announce Itinerary for 9th Annual Charity Motorcycle Ride
The 2012 LRLR ride will begin and end in the beautiful city of Seattle,the Emerald City of the Northwest. The riders will gather on Friday August 3rd and head north the next morning. Before returning to Seattle 8 days later the group will visit some of the finest scenery the rugged Northwest has to offer. From the city of Victoria on Vancouver Island, to the Olympic Peninsula and the furthest northwest corner of the contiguous U.S. at Neah Bay, this promises to be one of the most scenic rides the LRLR have taken. Booming surf, majestic old-growth forests, and picturesque fishing villages will all be on the agenda. Additional sites in the planning include Mt. Ranier, Mt. St. Helens, Crater Lake National Park, Klamath Falls and a visit to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. What was supposed to be a one-time ride in 2004 has progressed into a great example of what can be accomplished through collaborative effort and a unifying goal.

October 30, 2011 - The Behind the Scenes 2011 LDI Raffle - Who Won Their Dream Vacation?
NEW YORK, NY — The ESTA Foundation announces the winners of the 2011 Behind the Scenes raffle at LDI. The Grand Prize of a $7,500 dream vacation was won by Jonathan Resnick of Barbizon. The winning ticket was drawn by the 2009 Grand Prize winner, Mark McKinney of Lex Products who spent his dream vacation in Hawaii.

July 15, 2011 - Another successful ride for the Long Reach Long Riders
The Long Reach Long Riders are very happy to announce the completion of their 8th annual charity ride. The ride, which benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and The ESTA Foundation's Behind the Scenes program, began in Billings, Montana on July 2nd and ended back in Billings on July 9th . This year the LRLR raised over $36,500.00 bringing the total raised since they started riding in 2004 to just under $300,000.00.

January 5, 2011 - The Long Reach Long Riders Ride Again
The Long Reach Long Riders are happy to announce the dates and route for their 8th annual charity motorcycle ride. The 2011 ride will begin on July 1 in Billings, Montana and wind through some of the wildest landscapes in the United States before finishing back in Billings on July 9th. Along the way the group will visit a number of National Parks including Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Craters of the Moon and Glacier. Old Faithful and Mammoth Hot Springs are two of the many sites to be visited, and the Chief Joseph Scenic Byway and The Highway to the Sun are a couple of the many magnificent roads that will be ridden during the 2011 ride.

September 28, 2010 - Announcing the 2010 Behind the Scenes Boutique at LDI
NEW YORK, NY - The ESTA Foundation announces the Behind the Scenes Boutique at LDI 2010. The State of Nevada has denied the charity's request to hold a raffle, traditionally one of its largest annual fundraisers. To make up for this loss of income, Behind the Scenes is asking LDI attendees to bring your raffle dollars to the boutique in booth #744 and show your support for your colleagues in need by picking up some special Behind the Scenes swag for yourself or as gifts for family and friends.

August 9, 2010 - Long Reach Long Riders Raise Over $38K in 7th Annual Charity RIde
The Long Reach Long Riders (LRLR) completed their 7th annual charity motorcycle ride on July 31st at Alice's Restaurant in Woodside, California. The ride, which began at The Presidio in San Francisco raised over $38,000.00 for The ESTA Foundation's Behind the Scenes Program and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The LRLR have raised over $250,000.00 since starting their charity rides in 2004.

May 7, 2010 - Angelus’ New York Concert to Benefit Behind the Scenes
NEW YORK, NY — Indiana vocal group Angelus has announced it will donate all proceeds from its upcoming New York concert of sacred music to The ESTA Foundation’s Behind the Scenes charity. Part of their summer tour to New York, the concert will take place Friday, July 16, 2010 at 1:00pm in the sanctuary of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin at 145 West 46th Street.

April 15, 2010 - The Long Reach Long Riders announce Challenge Grant
The Long Reach Long Riders are pleased to announce that Clark Transfer is offering a $5,000.00 Challenge Grant for this year's Long Reach Long Riders charity ride.  The grant, which will be divided between The ESTA Foundation's Behind the Scenes program and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, will be in place until the start of the ride in July.  The Challenge Grant was issued at the USITT Conference in Kansas City, MO.

April 15, 2010 - By Design Day, April 24 – It’s not too late to join in!
NEW YORK, NY — By Design Day 2010, which is set to raise money for Behind the Scenes in the US and Light Relief in the UK, is nearly here. To date over 30 of the industry’s top designers have pledged a day’s royalties to the two charities and their shows are a real indication of the global aspect of our industry. Although the majority are UK or US specific, several are international – in fact we’re receiving royalties from shows in some 15 countries! But even if you are not in a royalty situation, you can still contribute by making a donation to show that you care. Businesses too – particularly scenic, audio and lighting rental companies – can show their support with a day’s rental fee or single donation.

April 7, 2010 - USITT Attendees Support Behind the Scenes
New York, NY – The Long Reach Long Riders and The ESTA Foundation are proud to announce the results of their joint raffle to benefit the Behind the Scenes program at the USITT conference in Kansas City. A total of $6,677 was raised from raffle ticket sales during the three-day conference, over $1,500 above last year’s total.

March 8, 2010 - Apollo’s Design-A-Pattern Contest Benefits Behind the Scenes
NEW YORK, NY — Apollo Design Technology recently made the first donation to Behind the Scenes from first year sales of the winning templates in their annual Design-A-Pattern Contest. Each year, Apollo is committed to adding new gobo designs to their library of standard patterns but they wanted to get the actual users more involved so in 2008 they created the Design-A-Pattern Contest. Anyone can submit a design and those entries that meet Apollo’s basic criteria for what makes a good standard pattern are posted on Apollo’s website and the public votes for their favorite.

February 22, 2010 - Behind the Scenes Receives Grant from Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS
NEW YORK, NY — Behind the Scenes, the entertainment technology industry charity, announces it has just received a grant of $50,000 from Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS. In his cover letter to the grant, BC/EFA Executive Director Tom Viola said, “BC/EFA is very grateful to the companies and individuals working in the technical professions – from lighting and rigging to scenery, special effects, audio and more – who have participated in and made so much of BC/EFA’s fundraising in the theatre community possible.”

February 6, 2010 - More top Broadway and West End designers to support By Design Day 2010
NEW YORK, NY — Behind the Scenes and Light Relief are delighted to announce a host of big name designers have joined in support of the charities’ fund raising By Design Day 2010. Heading the roster are Jonathan Deans, David Gallo, Derek McLane, Tony Meola, Hugh Vanstone and Tony Walton, who have joined Ken Billington, Paule Constable, Rick Fisher and Ken Posner as signatories to the event, scheduled for Saturday April 24.

NEW YORK, NY – Behind The Scenes, an initiative of The ESTA Foundation, announces its first-ever holiday card student design contest, open to any lighting, set, video or costume full-time design student interested in creating an original design for a 2010 card.

November 29, 2009 - Behind the Scenes Announces Holiday Donations
Behind the Scenes, an initiative of the ESTA Foundation to provide industry members with financial support when they are seriously ill or injured, announced that two well-known industry companies, Rose Brand and Reed Rigging, are making donations to the program as part of their 2009 holiday charitable giving.

November 25, 2009 - The Behind the Scenes 2009 LDI Raffle – Who Won Their Dream Vacation?
Behind the Scenes, the charitable initiative of The ESTA Foundation, congratulates the winners of the 2009 LDI Raffle. We were honored to have three very special individuals draw the winning tickets this year. The Grand Prize ticket for a $7,500 dream vacation was drawn by Rick Rudolph, the recipient earlier in the week of ESTA’s highest honor, the Eva Swan Award. The Grand Prize was won by Mark McKinney of Lex Products who will share the prize with his wife Tracey Cosgrove who works for Rosco. The two were happily considering their possible travel destinations as the show wound down.

November 9, 2009 - Technicians Bare All (Mostly) for Behind The Scenes Program

Members of the Stagecraft Mailing list, an Internet group of theatre technicians, are pictured in a new 16-month calendar that takes its cue from the famous Maple Glen Farmers calendars of years gone by. Proceeds from the sale of the calendar will benefit the Behind the Scenes program, an initiative of The ESTA Foundation that provides support to entertainment technology industry professionals who are seriously ill or injured.

September 17, 2009 - Behind the Scenes Holiday Card Orders Due September 30th
NEW YORK, NY – The summer is officially over, which means the holidays are not far off. The ESTA Foundation reminds you to order your Behind the Scenes holiday cards by September 30th. Some of the industry’s top designers have created four stunning card designs, which can be customized with your company greeting and logo with a minimum order of just 250 cards. Each design is also available in packs of 10 with a standard greeting, or any of the cards may be ordered as electronic version to be sent by email in jpg, gif, or pdf formats. All proceeds benefit Behind the Scenes.

The Long Reach Long Riders are happy to announce they've reached a fundraising milestone. With donations of more than $35,000.00 for this year's ride, the total raised since they began the ride in 2004 has now topped $200,000.00

June 5, 2009 - More Riders for the Long Reach Long Riders.
The number of bikes registered to ride in the 6th annual Long Reach Long Rider charity motorcycle ride has reached an all time high. The addition of Randy 'Pop-Pop' Whitcomb, Wayne 'Razz" Rasmussen, Jim 'Con Man' Niesel and Larry 'Pastor Disaster' Jent brings the total number of bikes to 19. This surpasses the 2007 New England ride, which had 18 riders.

NEW YORK, NY - The ESTA Foundation announces the 2009 Behind the Scenes Holiday Cards created by some of the industry's most talented designers.  Four fabulous designs are offered this year.

May 27, 2009 - Proceeds from ETC's iPhone® iRFR Lighting App Donated to Behind the Scenes and Light Relief
Lighting technicians and programmers love their iPhones - and they want to use them everywhere! ETC is answering the call by allowing them to turn their Apple handhelds into miniature lighting-controllers. In March, ETC will introduce their iRFR (Radio Focus Remote for iPhone and iPod Touch), while donating all the proceeds to industry-aid organizations Light Relief and Behind The Scenes. The iRFR will offer all the functionality of an ETC Net3 Radio Focus Remote unit, interfacing to ETC's Eos, Ion, Congo and Congo jr lighting control desks. The iRFR is supported in the current Congo software release (v5.1) and will be supported in the upcoming Eos release (v1.5).

April 21, 2009 - Record Support for Behind the Scenes and Light Relief By Design Day
New York, NY – With just days to go to Behind the Scenes and Light Relief By Design Day on April 24, it’s not too late to join the host of international designers who have come together to raise money for these two industry charities. This year, for the first time, Light Relief is joined by the US and Canadian charity, Behind the Scenes, resulting in a record number of designers donating their day’s royalties, plus many leading lighting designers and others in the industry are giving individual donations.

April 3, 2009 - Rose Brand Recycling Program to Benefit Behind the Scenes
New York, NY - In a continuing effort to reuse, reduce and recycle, Rose Brand will be earning money to be donated to The ESTA Foundation's Behind the Scenes charity by collecting empty printer cartridges and used cell phones and recycling them for cash credit at Funding Factory. The fundraiser continues Rose Brand's support of Behind the Scenes and the company's commitment to the environment.

March 24, 2009 - USITT Attendees Support Behind the Scenes
The Long Reach Long Riders and The ESTA Foundation are proud to announce the results of their joint raffle to benefit the Behind the Scenes program at the USITT conference in Cincinnati, Ohio. A total of $5,236 was raised from raffle ticket sales during the three-day conference, more than doubling the $2500 Challenge Grant issued by Sapsis Rigging. In addition, Jonathan Deull made a $1500 donation to Behind the Scenes in support of the Long Reach Long Riders 2009 charity ride this summer, bringing the total raised at USITT to $9,236.

January 30, 2009 - More Bikers for the Long Reach Long Riders
The Long Reach Long Riders are pleased to welcome the latest additions to the roster of riders for their 2009 charity motorcycle ride.  Sam and Kacey Fisher, of Fisher Theatrical in Hanover, Maryland will be joining returning veterans and the other new riders to help raise funds for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and the ESTA Foundation's Behind the Scenes program.  This will be the 6th annual ride for the group.  What started out as a one-time ride has blossomed into a yearly event which has raised over $170,000.00 in the past five years.

December 2, 2008 - The Long Reach Long Riders Ride Again
The Long Reach Long Riders announce the schedule and route of their 6th
annual charity motorcycle ride.  The 2009 trip begins in Richmond, Virginia
on July 31st and ends on August 6th in Dahlonega, Georgia.  In between we'll
tour through places like Cades Cove and Bear Gap, see some of the prettiest
country and ride some of the best bike roads east of the Mississippi.

November 1, 2008 - The Behind the Scenes 2008 LDI Raffle
NEW YORK, NY — Behind the Scenes, the charitable initiative of The ESTA Foundation, congratulates the winners of the 2008 LDI Raffle. This year we were honored to have three very special individuals draw the winning tickets. The Grand Prize ticket for a $10,000 dream vacation was drawn by Christian Choi, the very first Behind the Scenes grant recipient. We are happy to report that Christian is now in great shape and ready to resume his successful career as a lighting designer and programmer. The Grand Prize was won by Ken Vannice from Leviton Lighting Management Systems who is well known in the industry for his tireless work on behalf of standards and certification.

May 12, 2008 - Announcing the 2008 Behind the Scenes Holiday Cards
NEW YORK, NY – The ESTA Foundation announces the 2008 Behind the Scenes Holiday Cards created by some of the industry’s most talented designers. Six designs are being offered this year, including custom cards from Bob Bonniol, Scott Pask, David Rockwell, and Bruce Rodgers. Behind the Scenes is also pleased to introduce the work of talented young photographer Andrew Hefter.

The Long Reach Long Riders and The ESTA Foundation are proud to announce the results of their joint raffle to benefit the Behind the Scenes program at the USITT conference in Houston, TX.  A total of $8,364 was raised during the three-day conference. When added to the Challenge Grants provided by Bigger Hammer Productions, Sapsis Rigging, and Strong Entertainment Lighting, the total reached $18,364.

February 25, 2008 - Rosco Donates Proceeds from Sales of Roscolux #359 to Behind the Scenes
The ESTA Foundation is pleased to announce that Rosco will donate the proceeds from the sales of Roscolux #359 Medium Violet to Behind the Scenes. While the color name remains the same, the Behind the Scenes logo will be added to the Roscolux swatch book slip sheet and marketing materials, making it easy to identify. Rosco will present a check to Behind the Scenes each year at the LDI Show.

February 15, 2008 - Long Reach Long Riders Announce Annual USITT Raffle to Benefit Behind the Scenes
The Long Reach Long Riders and The ESTA Foundation proudly announce their annual raffle to benefit Behind the Scenes at the USITT conference. This hugely popular event will be held on March 22, 2008 at the Behind the Scenes booth (#910) on the trade show floor of the USITT Conference in Houston, TX. Tickets, which are $5 each or 5 for $20, may be purchased at the booth throughout the show. Every dollar raised will be tripled thanks to challenge grants sponsored by Bigger Hammer Production Services, Sapsis Rigging and Strong Entertainment Lighting.

January 28, 2008 - ETC behind the scenes of Successful Challenge Grant
Middleton, WI (28 January 2008) – In October, ETC CEO Fred Foster issued a challenge to companies and individuals working in the entertainment industry: Donate to The ESTA Foundation’s Behind the Scenes fund, a program that provides financial assistance to entertainment technology professionals who are seriously ill or injured. ETC offered to match all donations to Behind the Scenes up to $50,000.

December 6, 2007 - Behind the Scenes Holiday Appeal to Meet the ETC $50,000 Challenge
This past October, The ESTA Foundation was pleased to announce that Electronic Theatre Controls (ETC) issued a $50,000 Challenge Grant to benefit Behind the Scenes. During the three days at LDI in November many of our colleagues answered the challenge by buying raffle tickets and holiday cards or playing poker, which helped us raise close to $40,000 – just $10,000 shy of ETC’s generous challenge.

With little more than a month to go, the Long Reach Long Riders have raised
over $50,000.00.  The goal for this, their 4th annual ride, is to raise

May 21, 2007 - Live Design Honors and Short Reach Short Riders Benefit Behind the Scenes
New York, NY – The Live Design Honors, recognizing The Design Aesthetic of Hal Prince, took place on Tuesday, May 15th at the Kimmel Center at New York University in a gala evening that benefited Behind the Scenes. This event marked the 2nd annual Live Design Honors, in which the magazine pays tribute to a group of outstanding individuals and the collaborative spirit of the designers who work together to create memorable and innovative productions.

The raffle was held on Saturday in the exhibit hall.

February 15, 2007 - Two Behind the Scenes Challenge Grants for USITT Announced

NEW YORK, NY — The Altman Family believes so strongly in Behind the Scenes that they issued a challenge to help launch the program. May 15, 2006 - Behind the Scenes Announces First Grant
NEW YORK, NY — The Board of Directors of The ESTA Foundation has just awarded the first Behind the Scenes grant to Christian Choi, an 18-year industry veteran lighting director and moving light programmer whose career was derailed by a back injury sustained on the job and two difficult surgeries. Christian has been out of work for almost two years, so instead of building his career, he has been depleting his resources, including his retirement savings. He knew that with physical therapy, he could get back to work, but he couldn’t find a way to pay for it. His career had gone from success and security to wondering how he would pay the next month's rent.

January 31, 2006 - Behind the Scenes Now Accepting Applications
NEW YORK, NY — Behind the Scenes, an initiative of the ESTA Foundation to provide industry members with financial support when they are seriously ill or injured, is now accepting applications for assistance. Behind the Scenes will provide qualified eligible individuals with grants that may be used for medical care, funeral expenses and living expenses such as rent, mortgage, utilities, food, clothing, transportation and childcare.

November 29, 2005 - Behind the Scenes Raises Almost $40,000 at LDI
NEW YORK, NY — The ESTA Foundation raised almost $40,000 for Behind the Scenes in raffle ticket sales and contributions at the recent LDI show, which includes a generous donation from Vivian and George Gill, owners of Stage Equipment & Lighting. Thanks to the Altman Family $125,000 Challenge Grant, the amount raised is doubled, as the Altman Family will match all pledges and funds raised in the first year – dollar for dollar – up to $125,000.
